Research Program (2022 Update)
1. Organization of the World Mother Language Day 2021 series events:
(1).The 2021 World Mother Language Day has been organized – An Indigenous Native Languages Revival Award Ceremony and a Taiwan Indigenous Languages Development Conference have been held, with President Tsai Ing-wen and Executive Yuan President Su Tseng-chang in attendance, along with over 500 participants.
(2). The International Mother Language Day special exhibition “World International Language Day Series – Let’s Speak Indigenous Languages” has been held in mid-April, with a total of 1,476 visitors over the 15-day exhibition period.
(3).In accordance with the 2021 implementation plan for the Indigenous language development, a total of 12 award-winning films have been produced for the 2021 International Mother Language Day, from which a featured clip of more than 3 minutes long was made.
2. Implementation of Indigenous language courses on a digital game platform.
(1). An online indigenous language learning channel (PaGamO platform) has been built to stimulate the children’s motivation to learn through overcoming challenges in a game-based learning process and an immediate feedback mechanism.
(2). 3 online missions for the Native Language Digital Curriculum Game Platform have been accomplished, with a total of substantially 160,000 cumulative participants attended from October to November in 2021.
(3). A 16-group, 42-language Indigenous language learning glossary has been published.
3. Organization of Indigenous language competitions
(1). On December 14 and 15, 2021, the 11th Indigenous Language Drama Competition has been held at the National Yang Ming University of Transportation and Communications - Taipei Yang Ming Campus. In the two days, a total of 422 participants in 23 teams speaking in 13 languages, coming from 10 counties and cities, have participated in the competition.
(2).The closing awards ceremony has been attended by the Chairman of the Council of Indigenous Peoples。
4. Online Audible Indigenous Language Semi-annual e-Journal
(1). One version of the e-journal with 20 articles in 16 Indigenous languages has been issued and published on three digital magazine reading platforms.
